Services
Preventative/Diagnostic
Here at Otsego Dental Care we believe preventative care is always the most important service we offer. Visit our office every 6 months for routine continuing care appointments -more often if recommended to catch any problems early. Your dentist or hygienist may recommend x-rays to help diagnose, detect damage and disease not clinically visible during a routine dental exam. We use digital x-rays and lead aprons with thyroid collars to limit the exsposure of radiation.
To prevent decay on permanent molars we often recommend placing sealants. Back teeth are prone for decay because they have pits and grooves that are hard to keep clean. A sealant is a white plastic material that flows into these pits and grooves to "seal out" the bacteria, protecting the enamel. Sealants can last for several years, but can wear down depending on chewing habits. Your dentist will check them at your routine dental exam appointments.
If you don't consume public water, ask us about vitamins with fluoride for your children. We also recommend talking to your Dentist about vaccinations against oral cancer causing viruses.

We offer many treatment options to care for your dental needs. Good oral health can have an impact on the health of your entire body. Studies suggests that oral bacteria may be linked to heart disease, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, and preterm and/or low birth weight infants. People with systemic illnesses are prone for dental issues because their immunity can be lower. Diabetic patients with periodontal disease may have a harder time controlling their blood sugar.
Please Tell your dentist of any changes in your overall health, especially any recent changes or chronic conditions and a full list of any medications.
Teeth Whitening -
Veneers
Achieving a beautiful, healthy, aesthetic smile is made easy for patients of all ages. Have you considered Tooth Whitening? We offer an "In Office" teeth whitening option that will give you immediate results by the end of you appointment. The other option is our "At Home" kit with custom made trays and whitening gel. The at home professional tray whitening generaly takes 10-14 days although you may notice results in as little as 3-5 days.
Veneers are a great option for fixing those misshapen teeth, gaps, chips, and stains. They are custom made shells made from tooth colored materials, such as porcelain designed to cover the front side of your teeth. Veneers are great for patients looking to make minor adjustments to the look and feel of their smile.
Replacement of Teeth
Your teeth function together as a set. The presence of teeth helps to keep the jaw bone healthy. If a missing tooth is not replaced, the teeth beside it lose part of their support. The opposing tooth may drift into the open space. As teeth drift you are prone to gum disease which can lead to loss of additional teeth.
There are several options to replace missing teeth:
-
crown and bridge
-
removable partial dentures
-
complete dentures
-
dental implants
You and your Dentist can decide which option is best for you.
